Translating Simple Appointments

Getting Ready

Before you can translate Simple Appointments, your user must be set to a language other than English, if it is not already. See Changing Studio Information to change the default language for new users, or Changing Users to change the language for individual users. Changes to your own user do not take effect until the next login, so if you change your own language, close the program and log back in at this point.

If your language does not appear in the list of available languages, please contact support@simpleappointments.com and we will add it for you.

Opening the Translation Page

Now, you can open the translation page. From the opening page of the program, click the “Setup” link. At the top of the Setup page there is a “Translate” link. Click it to open the translation page. You will see a list of English phrases on one side, and of the current translation being used on the other side.

Quick Translation

The easiest way to translate is to use the Quick Translation feature. Click the “Turn on Quick Translation” link at the top of the page. Quick translation is now enabled until you log out.

With Quick Translation enabled, you can press CTRL+ALT+t (hold down the CTRL and ALT keys, and press 't') on any page. All translatable text will be highlighted in green. Click any of the green areas, and you will be able to edit that phrase. Click save when you are done, and all exact copies of that phrase will be updated throughout the program. You should only edit one area at a time using this method.

Manual Translation

Some text, such as the text on buttons, tooltips, and in list boxes, cannot be changed with Quick Translation. For these, you must use another method. Open a second copy of the Simple Appointments program. Log in, and go to the translation page as described above. All phrases that have not been translated are highlighted in red. Those that have been translated are in green. They are in alphabetical order based on the current translation. Long phrases are all listed at the bottom, while short phrases are at the top.

While on this page, you can edit as many of the translations as you wish. When you are done, click the “Save” button at the bottom of the page to save your changes.

Using a combination of Quick Translation and manual translation, you can easily translate Simple Appointments into the language of your choice.
