When a gift certificate is sold, the studio which sells it should enter it as a 0 unit enrollment for the person who bought it. When the certificate is used it should be entered by the redeeming studio as a $0 enrollment for the appropriate number of lessons, with the section marked as “No Sale”. This will prevent the enrollment from being shown on the franchise reports. The enrollment notes should say something like “GC Sold” and “GC Redeemed” so that you can easily see that it is a special enrollment.

If the gift certificate is given away (at a PR event, for example), you might want it to not count as an enrollment on the franchise reports. To do this, put the 0 unit enrollment in the “No Sale” section.
